TRENTODOC PISONI GRAPPA AND SPUMANTE, “AWARD-WINNING PRODUCTS”.

11/7/2019
At the 36th annual competition “Alambicco d'oro” (“Golden still”) the renowned Pisoni Grappas won the gold medal and the Pisoni Rosé Trentodoc was named as one of the five wines worthy of mention in this DOC category.
The historical Pisoni Distillery obtained as many as four gold medals in the “Alambicco D’Oro” competition. This prestigious competition is organised by the Associazione Nazionale Assaggiatori Grappe e Acquaviti (Anag) (National Association of Tasters of Grappa and other Spirits). The jury was made up of 60 wine tasters who gathered for this event that is gaining in importance year after year.
The award-winning grappas are Grappa del Sole Biologica in the young grappa category, Grappa Clessidra in the aged grappa category, Grappa Gewürztraminer in the young aromatic grappa category and Grappa Moscato Barricata in the aged aromatic grappa category.
Grappa del Sole is the Pisoni organic grappa certified by ICEA (Istituto per la certificazione etica e ambientale) (Italian Institute for Ethical and Environmental Certification), which is obtained through distillation of exclusively organic grape marcs from Trentino in antique copper stills. At the end of the distillation process the result is a smooth, flavourful grappa. Grappa Gewürztraminer is made from grape marcs of the same name, one of the single-variety grappas produced by Pisoni. The aroma of this grappa recalls the scent of exotic fruits and flowers, such as white and yellow roses.

Gold medals were also awarded to the aged grappas by Pisoni. Grappa Clessidra, made from Teroldego, Marzemino and Nosiola grape marcs, ages in French oak barriques for 10 years, acquiring over time different tastes and aromas and a typical amber colour. Its dry bouquet has hints of dried fruit, oriental spices, leather and cocoa, with a vanilla finish.
Pisoni is a historical name in the Trentodoc scenario, noteworthy for also being among the founders of the Trentodoc Institute in 1984. Among the five wines recommended by the Best Italian Sommelier  2018, Simone Loguercio, in a major specialist magazine is the Brut Millesimato 2014 Rosé, made with 100% Pinot Nero grapes, giving it its light rose colour and a fine, persistent perlage. This wine has floral, vegetal and fruity notes and is well-balanced and pleasant to the palate. These many characteristics make the Pisoni Rosé one of the best wines to be tasted in the Trento DOC - Controlled Designation of Origin wine category.
